How it is made – the story of my carved candles
You are probably wondering how I make these beautiful candles. Well, I start with a high-quality, clear slab of wax that I melt in a large wax vat. I prepare special molds with 100 % cotton wick and then the clear, melted wax is poured into these molds. When the molded wax has hardened, it is removed from the mold. This molded center is called a core and is the heart of the candle I am about to produce. At another station, I have several vats that have melted wax, which I have colored by using high-quality, color-fast pigments. I choose to use the more expensive pigments rather than dyes to color our wax, even though they are a little more difficult to work with. Because the pigment are color-fast our candles will not bleed nor fade, so your beautiful candle will always look as lovely as when it was first made.
The core is then dipped between 30 and 40 times into specific wax colors, which allows the candle carving to create a beautiful pattern. Each dip is cooled in fresh water to set each layer of dipped wax. Immediately after completing the dipping process, the work of carving an artistically creation begins, which you see in the finished product.
After the candle carving has been completed, the candle is dipped into a special glaze that reacts with the hot wax, making it very hard on the outside and giving it a look of fine porcelain. This protects the candle. However, these candles must be handled with care, as they can chip just like your fine china.
Each candle is unique because each candle is handmade and like the beauty of anything handmade, it is less than perfect and cannot be duplicated exactly the same.
Hope you will enjoy it. Stanislava Gugleva
